Enjoy natural-looking volume

Whether due to genetics, sun exposure or environmental toxins, aging is inevitable. Lines and creases etch onto the skin, the cheeks become sunken and the face loses its youthful fullness through the years. While normal and natural, these changes can make you look and feel older than you are.

If you wish to soften the appearance of lines or wrinkles, restore lost volume or subtly enhance your lips and cheeks, dermal fillers can help. We offer men and women a wide selection of dermal fillers, each designed to address different cosmetic concerns while providing natural-looking results.

Why Do We Need Dermal Fillers?

The skin and deeper tissues undergo many changes as we age — including loss of volume. As collagen and elastin production decline, your skin loses its usual fullness and elasticity. Loss of facial fat also creates a sunken appearance in some. In addition, as we age, reduced bone density further contributes to this problem. One way to reverse these changes is with dermal fillers. These injectables can restore a youthful appearance and offer natural-looking results that last many months.

How do Botox, Dysport, & Daxxify work?

Imagine our facial muscles constantly contracting and relaxing, causing the skin to fold and crease. Over time, as our skin loses elasticity, these repetitive movements engrain lines that linger. Wrinkle relaxers target this very phenomenon. By temporarily blocking nerve signals, these treatments reduce muscle contractions, allowing the skin to relax and smooth out.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to address the signs of aging and restore volume in the skin. Our most popular dermal fillers are gel-like substances containing a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance whose primary role is to provide the skin with hydration and volume. When injected into targeted areas, dermal fillers work to soften facial lines, creases and hollows. We also offer other injectables that add volume with the help of bio-stimulating ingredients that increase collagen production.

What Dermal Fillers Treat

Dermal fillers can also be combined with other treatments to provide more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. We often use them alongside neuromodulators like Botox, which relax the muscles in treated areas to soften the appearance of expression lines or wrinkles.

Dermal fillers are quite versatile. They have been approved for the correction of a wide range of cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Moderate to severe wrinkles and folds

  • Sunken cheeks and temples

  • Tear-troughs

  • Thin or thinning lips

  • Facial asymmetry

  • Depressed scars

Your Dermal Filler Options

While all dermal fillers work by restoring or adding volume, they are available as different formulations to address each patient’s specific and unique concerns. Each brand of dermal fillers offers different products that help us offer individualized treatments and create beautiful results.

Juvéderm Ultra

From Allergan’s famous collection of HA fillers, Juvéderm Ultra has a thin and smooth consistency. This makes it a good choice for the more delicate areas of the face where the skin is naturally thin. Its refined consistency also helps create subtle and natural-looking results. VITAHL loves Juvederm Ultra to plump the lips and give those thin lips a little pout. It is also a great filler for the nasolabial folds and around the mouth.

Juvéderm Ultra Plus

With a slightly thicker consistency than its cousin, this dermal filler holds its shape better. This makes it a good choice for the correction of deeper wrinkles and folds. Problems we commonly treat with Juvéderm Ultra Plus are moderate to severe nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

Voluma

Voluma’s robust consistency makes it a great option for lifting and contouring the cheeks, jaw and chin. The results are immediately apparent and will last a long time, up to 18 months in some patients.

Restylane

The original Restylane formula is a crystal clear HA filler that is FDA-approved to address a number of cosmetic concerns, including lip enhancement, smoothing away smile lines and reducing the appearance of nasolabial folds. It is highly versatile and can be used throughout the face to improve contours, restore volume and add plumpness where you need it.

Lyft

Restylane Lyft is part of the popular Restylane line offered by Galderma. It is an HA filler specifically designed to add volume to flat or sagging cheeks and smooth away wrinkles in the back of the hands. The VITAHL team also loves Lyft to contour the jaw and define the chin.

Kysse

Kysse is a crosslinked HA gel designed to provide the ideal balance between precision and flexibility, delivering natural results that move with you and support your full range of facial expressions. It is indicated for adding fullness and volume to the lips, but it can also smooth away wrinkles that appear around the lips and mouth (perioral lines).

Defyne

Defyne is a smooth, flexible formula that provides dynamic support, making it ideal for treating moderate to severe laugh lines, wrinkles and nasolabial folds. It can also be used to add volume and definition to the chin to improve your overall facial profile.

Refyne

Refyne is also a flexible formula designed for use in dynamic areas, ideal for softening deeper lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. It helps restore a more youthful appearance without noticeably affecting your natural facial expressions.

Redensity

From the RHA Collection of HA fillers by Revance, this dermal filler corrects mild to moderate lines around the mouth. It is a next-generation HA filler formulated using long chains of crosslinked HA for extra durability. RHA Redensity also adapts to facial movements for natural-looking results.

RHA 2

Injected into the mid to deep dermis, this elegant and refined filler can correct moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles around the mouth and nasolabial folds for a soft-focus look. We also use it to add subtle volume to the lips.

RHA 3

This is a moderately robust filler that we inject into the mid to deep dermis. Its formula works well on moderate to severe marionette lines and smoker’s lines. We also use it to augment the lips of patients who want an extra boost of volume.

RHA 4

Injected deeper into the skin, RHA 4 can correct deeper wrinkles as well as mild facial sagging. We use it to add natural-looking volume and lift in areas such as the cheeks, lower face and jawline.

Biostimulators

Biostimulators are a different class of fillers than the traditional hyaluronic fillers discussed above. Unlike other dermal fillers, which simply inject volume into the areas of concern, biostimulators treat and volumize the skin by promoting new collagen and elastin growth. They are injected into the deep dermis through a series of treatments to address volume loss, wrinkles and folds.

Sculptra is an injectable formulation of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that functions as a collagen and elastin stimulator for long-lasting wrinkle reduction.

Initially formulated two decades ago to treat patients with severe volume loss due to HIV lipoatrophy, Sculptra was found to offer significant results and was FDA-approved for use in aesthetic patients in 2009.

Since this time, Sculptra has become a fast favorite for treating volume loss, facial wrinkles and reducing the signs of aging in healthy patients looking to revitalize their appearance. A series of treatments are recommended for long-lasting results — over two years.

Who Are Good Candidates for Dermal Fillers?

Most patients who want to improve their appearance can be good candidates for dermal fillers. Fillers are an ideal choice for anyone experiencing the early signs of aging but wanting to avoid undergoing surgery and procedures with long downtimes. Dermal fillers are also an excellent choice for subtle enhancement of the lips, cheeks and jawline.

How to Prepare for Dermal Fillers

To get ready for your dermal filler injections, you should:

  • Stop using anti-inflammatory drugs and supplements that thin the blood for 10 days to prevent bleeding and bruising.

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment since it is also a blood thinner.

  • Schedule your treatment when you do not have any important social obligations, as minor swelling and bruising can occur.

  • Follow your clinician’s instructions to ensure the best results.

  • Arrive at your appointment with a makeup-free face.

What to Expect When Getting Dermal Fillers

If this is your first time getting dermal fillers, you probably have many questions and concerns about the actual treatment. We understand how intimidating it can be to get any type of cosmetic treatment for the first time. To ease your anxieties, here is a quick overview of the treatment process.

Consultation

Every cosmetic treatment starts with an initial consultation. During the consultation, your clinician will talk to you about your concerns, treatment goals and medical history. This helps create an individualized treatment plan that will work for you.

Treatment

Dermal fillers are injected just below the skin's surface using very fine needles. Most patients need between one and six syringes to achieve their aesthetic goals, but this depends on the area being treated and your concerns. The number of injection points also varies between treatments. The treatment is usually quite painless, as many dermal fillers contain lidocaine. However, since dermal fillers are injected with a needle, there may be some discomfort.

Post-treatment

After treatment, some patients notice minor swelling, bruising and tenderness that lasts for up to 72 hours before gradually subsiding. It is important not to apply any products to your skin, avoid rubbing the area, and limit exercise during this time to prevent filler migration and other complications. If extreme pain is noted or there are any post-treatment concerns, we will want you to call the office immediately.

What Results Can I Expect From Dermal Fillers?

The results from this treatment are visible before you leave our office. Your skin will look noticeably smoother, and your overall appearance will be more youthful and balanced. The results from dermal fillers are long-lasting, from six to 18 months on average. However, some patients enjoy their new look for even longer.
